An “extremely intoxicated” woman suffered serious injuries after jumping from a moving vehicle on the Southern Motorway on Saturday night.
The Star understands she was having an argument with her partner before jumping out of the vehicle about 8pm.
A police spokeswoman said officers were notified about an incident in which there was a report of an “extremely intoxicated” woman who had jumped from a vehicle.
“She sustained grazes and lacerations, as well as a cut to her head,” the spokeswoman said.
The 20-year-old woman was taken to Christchurch Hospital in a serious condition, a St John spokeswoman said.
A Canterbury District Health Board spokeswoman told The Star yesterday that she had been discharged.
The police spokeswoman said there is no further police involvement as no criminal offence has happened.
