A scrub fire near Rolleston has been contained.
A number of appliances and tankers from Rolleston, Dunsandel, Kirwee, Lincoln and Burnham fought the blaze on Tresillian Dr.
The size of the fire was 100m by 5m, a fire and emergency communication spokesman said.
A helicopter was deployed to help battle the blaze.
It is the latest fire to strike Selwyn District.
On December 23 a large scrub fire on Knights Rd, Rolleston, forced the evacuations of residents on Hoskyns Rd while three helicopters, 12 fire trucks, eight tankers and three rural units battled the blaze.
It also destroyed two houses and badly damaged two sheds.
On Christmas Day a huge fire, which started at about 1pm, burned through about 100 hectares of paddocks in 31degC heat before it was brought under control with the use of helicopters and multiple appliances.
About 10 properties along Derretts and Haldon Rds, in Hororata, were evacuated.
Firefighters from Hororata, Coalgate, Darfield, Kirwee, Sheffield, Springfield, Oxford, Cust, Dunsandel, Rakaia, Ashburton, Southbridge, Rangiora, West Melton, Sockburn, Christchurch and Methven battled the blaze.
Water was trucked in by Synlait, a diary processing company, through two milk tankers.
Fire restrictions in the district remain in place with permits needed for any open fires.
