More events than ever before have been packed into the annual Summer in Selwyn which starts on Friday.
More than 70 district council and community events are planned in Selwyn as part of programme, which will run until April.
District council senior events and recreation adviser Dave Tippett said there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
He said the district council will present more events than previous years, including Christmas parades, community markets, fêtes, picnics, and fitness-related activities.
There will be two drive-in movies at Rolleston and Darfield, and two outdoor movies at Lincoln and Leeston as part of the Spectrum Lighting and Sound outdoor family movies.
Either park up and tune in to the special frequency on your car radio, or bring a seat, bean bag or blanket to sit on in front of the huge outdoor screen.
The Faringdon summer pool parties will include a special Christmas pool party at the Selwyn Aquatic Centre, and events at the Darfield and Southbridge community pools. A DJ will be playing, with inflatable toys, games, prizes and a sausage sizzle.
The New World Rolleston Picnic in the Park will be held at eight locations, with live music, bouncy castles, face-painting, Pedalmania and entertainment – including activities for all ages and prizes.
The New World Rolleston Teddy Bears’ Picnic will return to the Rolleston Community Centre and Rolleston Reserve.
With an opening performance from Cirque Grande, the picnic will be packed with family fun, including a teddy bear parade, face-painting, faeries, bouncy castles, toddlers’ gym and prizes.
The Faringdon summer skate jams will also take place at eight locations around Selwyn. Coaching will be available with experienced skate instructors, and gear will be available for hire on the day.
Prizes will be up for grabs for the best tricks.
Entertainment and live music will also feature at a range of local parks as part of the Faringdon Music on the Green concerts. Take a picnic and relax while listening to an outstanding line-up of local musicians at Rolleston, Leeston, Darfield and Lincoln.
A number of Selwyn District Libraries’ events will also take place over summer, including BINGO, Christmas Storytimes and Cantastic Tree.
