Best things to do in Christchurch this weekend

Mona Vale

Find the perfect picnic spot in the lush gardens, and well manicured lawns. The heritage buildings, Avon river, and fernery are just a few things that make Mona Vale a tranquil place to visit. If you need a coffee top up, visit the Mona Vale Pantry. They serve delightful cabinet treats as well as meals made to order. Christchurch Adventure Park

The long awaited opening weekend of the adventure park is finally here! They’re starting off with a jam-packed schedule for both Saturday and Sunday. Get involved with scavenger hunts, spot prizes, displays, track challenges, and Cassels beer tasting too. An amazing amount of work has been put into the Christchurch Adventure Park after the fires, it’s certainly a weekend of celebration for all involved. Click here to see the full schedule

Leighs Construction Outdoor Cinema

The weather is warming up, it’s time to enjoy a movie or two in the outdoors. This weekend marks the first outdoor cinema for the summer. There will be two screenings this Friday; one for the kids (The Polar Express at 6pm) and one for the adults too (Love Actually at 8pm). Remember to bring a gold coin donation, something to sit on and to arrive early to get the best viewing spot. A small selection of food and drink will be available, bring cash. Live in the park

Good sounds, good sights, and good sunshine. Head over to Hagley Park to hear live tunes from Shapeshifter, Shihad, Kora, DubFX and more. Drink and food stalls will help keep your energy up for cutting shapes on the dance floor! New Brighton Christmas Parade

It is that fabulous time of year when the streets of New Brighton are in full festive mode.

As per usual, Santa will arrive by IRB to the shore before he headlines the parade. He will then be at his grotto in New Brighton Mall.  Don’t forget there is also a great Seaside Market.
