Ben & Jerry ice cream popping up in Christchurch

What would have been nicer than a cone of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream on one of last week’s 30deg C days?

But the closest place to get one of their world famous ice creams is Auckland, you say?

Not anymore.

The United States based company has decided it’s time to crack the Christchurch market.

And it is giving scoops away for free.

On Sunday a pop-up Scoop Shop will be found at 78 Cashel St in the container mall, delivering free scoops from noon. Make haste, it’s for a limited time only.

And to top it off it is going to be 28deg C.

Ben & Jerry’s will also be popping up at different sites across the city and will be on sale in supermarkets through the city.

Just remember, at the supermarket you have to pay for it – that isn’t free.

Time to start deciding whether you’ll treat yourself to a choc-chop cookie dough, triple caramel chunk or choc fudge brownie cone.

Brand manager Imogen Rugg said after two successful years in Auckland, it was time to make the move south.

“We know how patiently Cantabrians have been waiting for us to bring our world-famous chunks and swirls down their way,” she said.
