Traffic at a crawl on motorway after bypass opening

Traffic was down to a crawl during morning rush hour traffic on the Christchurch Northern Motorway.

The Western Belfast Bypass opened one southbound lane into the city on Thursday morning causing heavy traffic as motorists got used to the new layout.

Traffic was backed up to Woodened but began to ease by about 7.30am.

The bypass is a four lane median separated motorway that bypasses Belfast and runs from the motorway, joining Johns Rd south of The Groynes entrance.
