Foundation principal for new school in Lincoln announced

LEADING THE WAY: Claire Howison has been named the new foundation principal for Lincoln South Primary School.

The principal for the new Lincoln South Primary Schools planned for Southfield Drive, has been announced.

Claire Howison will lead the school when the first stage is scheduled to open in early 2019.

She is currently St Albans School deputy principal where she has been since 2010.

Prior to that, Ms Howison was part of the senior leadership team at Fendalton School.

Lincoln South will be built in two stages on a 3.32 ha site adjacent to Liffey Stream, with a northern frontage to Russ Drive. Stage one of the $14 million project is planned to cater for about 450 students with a final roll of 700 when stage 2 is completed.

It will be on a site which is on the Hazardous Activities and Industries List. All soils present on the site except for the asbestos contaminated soil can remain, a report found. The asbestos came from a house previously on the site. It has contaminated about 1000 sq m.

The site was also formerly used for agricultural purposes including cropping, market gardening and grazing.

While the school is currently known as Lincoln South Primary School, an official name is yet to be established.
