Monique Bates is trying to cram as much wedding planning in to two weeks as possible while she is home in Christchurch before returning to England.
So the 26-year-old has decided to go to the With This Ring Bridal Show on Sunday with her mother Jacqui and bridesmaid Lauren Sandri to get in as much planning as she can.
Ms Bates and her fiance Paul Grant, 29, live in Bath. Mr Grant, who used to captain Otago, plays rugby for Bath.
The pair moved there in January, but had previously lived in Nottingham and Montpellier, France.
Ms Bates, who is a physical education teacher, said she was looking forward to seeing what the show had to offer.
“For our situation, having so many businesses in one place you can tick off things you have done and look at things that interest you further,” she said.
“It’s nice to involve mum in a bit of the wedding planning when I’m back.”
Ms Bates and Mr Grant got engaged while on a short holiday at Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain, in March and will get married at Prebbleton’s Pemberton in June.
“Originally, we thought we were going to have a summer wedding in Central Otago, but with Paul’s job, we had to go for winter,” Ms Bates said.
They won’t return to New Zealand until just before their wedding, so the chance to plan while they were here was good, she said.
“It’s so nice to meet people to put a face to the emails.”
