West Melton’s Ben Taylor and Christchurch teammate Thomas Russel have helped bring home a silver medal at the Junior World Rowing Championships.

The St Andrew’s duo were part of the junior men’s coxless quad who narrowly missed out on gold to Great Britain on Lake Galve in Lithuania.

The crew of four also included Matt MacDonald and Daniel Williamson, of Auckland.

They were the only New Zealand team at the regatta to make the podium.

Taylor and Russel were a part of the winning St Andrew’s Maadi Cup team which not only brought back the top prize for the first time in the college’s history, but the Springbok Shield as well.
