A North Canterbury school was in lockdown after an incident.
Police say Broomfield School was locked down as a precaution after they received a call at about 8.30am of an incident at a nearby Racecourse Rd house.
A man has been taken into custody by police.
Police communication said they were unsure if a firearm was involved, but the school was locked down as a precaution.
People reported on social media of seeing a number of police vehicles heading north.
Cordons were in place but have been lifted.
