Though the bottom of the South Island is getting a wintry blanket of snow, it won’t hit Christchurch.
The outlook for the city is far better than forecasted yesterday, with sleety showers now off the cards, said MetService communications meteorologist April Clark.
Ms Clark said there was “no chance” of snow for the city, but Banks Peninsula may get a flurry or two.
A front passed over the city in the morning, bring a bit of rain, but it is expected to clear for the afternoon.
Clouds will roll in on Wednesday and Thursday, bringing possible showers.
The weekend will be mostly fine with a brief period of rain on Saturday. Sunday will be partly cloudy with not much wind.
But the nights will be chilly with Tuesday to Saturday ranging from 1 deg C and 2 deg C with Sunday night dropping down to -1 deg C.
