Fear not Christchurch – Lewis Road Creamery and Pic’s Peanut Butter’s new ice cream will be available in supermarkets from tomorrow.
The new Lewis Road Creamery Peanut Butter Ice Cream is a collaboration between the two companies, which was officially announced today.
It is made from whole cream and free range eggs, before being blended with Pic’s Smooth No Salt Peanut Butter, and finished with a sprinkle of Belgian milk chocolate flakes.
Unlike when Lewis Road Creamery released its chocolate milk collaboration with Whittaker’s in 2014, it will be available in Christchurch from the get-go.
The chocolate milk was initially only available in the North Island, and it resulted in dairy owners smuggling it into Christchurch to sell secretly.
A spokeswoman said the ice cream would be in as many Christchurch supermarkets as possible.
However, there were eight particular supermarkets that it would likely be in tomorrow, as they had already ordered it, she said.
Pic’s and Lewis Road teased their fans on Facebook yesterday by posting to each other’s pages talking about the recipe for the new ice cream.
Facebook commenters are already showing their excitement for the new product.
From tomorrow, the ice cream will be sold in a 470ml tub, costing $8.99.
Other Christchurch supermarkets that already stock Lewis Road products would roll the ice cream out over the next couple of days.
The supermarkets that would likely have the ice cream by tomorrow included:
- New World Wigram
- New World Fendalton
- New World Northwood
- FreshChoice Barrington
- FreshChoice Merivale
- New World St Martins
- New World Redcliffs
- New World Ashburton
