Teen athlete wins title now heads to Black Sticks

CHAMPIONS: The Villa Maria 4x400m relay team of Olivia Burnham, Tegan Duffy, Georgia Stroud and Jessie Anderson won the national senior girls title at the weekend.


Jessie Anderson claimed a national athletics title just a week out from making Black Sticks debut.

Anderson, who was recently named in the Black Sticks for the first time helped Villa Maria College to win the 4x400m senior girls relay title at the New Zealand Secondary School Athletics Championships in Auckland last weekend.

The team of Anderson, Olivia Burnham, Tegan Duffy and Georgia Stroud finished in a time of 4mins 02.41secs, just over two second ahead of St Andrews College in second place.

The 18-year-old has now turned her attention to hockey and joined the Black Sticks.
