Burnside High’s Phoebe Thompson, Alyssa Murphy and Katelyn Heyrick and St Andrew’s Ellie Dugdale have been selected in the under-18 women’s national ice hockey team.
They are part of the squad that will travel to Kuala Lumpur in March to compete in the IIHF ice hockey women’s challenge cup Asia tournament.
They will face Thailand, Singapore and a Chinese Taipei team.
Year 10 student Ellie only started playing two years ago, but her selection in the team is fantastic a school spokeswoman said.
The tournament gives Asian countries that are not in the World Championship programme, or that play in a lower division, a chance to compete.
Other Canterbury players included in the side are Lincoln High’s Brooke Whitman, Marian College’s Millicent Smith and Shirley Boys’ High’s fill-in goalie Lilly Forbes.
