INNOVATIVE: Leeston Consolidated School pupils Caitlin White, Holly Johnson, Ruby Johnson and Angus Morton reading their original play at Plains FM 96.9 Community Access Radio based in Christchurch.

Leeston Consolidated School pupils have let their creative juices flow writing an original play.

After a couple of sessions with the School For Young Writers the pupils spent five hours rehearsing their play which was aired on Plains FM recently.

How World War 3 Happened Because of a Paper Clip tells the story of a girl called Gabby, the daughter of the prime minister who reveals top secret information during a speech competition.

The speech, which was live-streamed, did not end well because the information would have been misinterpreted by the audience in Japan.

Gabby and her friends have to stop the information from reaching Japan to prevent World War 3.
