Lion King takes the stage at Riccarton

To the hypnotic beat of djembe drums and breath-taking lighting effects, Riccarton High School’s Disney’s The Lion King Junior created joy and magic.

Six capacity audiences  were enchanted by the school’s latest musical production.

Principal’s assistant Karen Churchward said the singing, acting and dancing was of a professional quality.

“The brilliant set, stunning costumes, masks and make-up that morphed students into vibrant African birds and amazing animals delivered creative magic and delight,” she said.

IN THE LIGHTS: Jared Sherwin as Scar, Roy Brunt as Mufasa and Sion Choi as young Simba.

HAKUNA MATATA: Oliver Worrall as Timon and Samuela Tatofi as Pumba.
