An Australian rock icon is set to step foot onto the Lincoln Domain for one of the biggest musical festivals in Selwyn next year.
The Selwyn Sounds concert is back with Jimmy Barnes to headline the rock concert, along with an iconic line-up of Australasian groups. It will be held on March 3.
Barnes will be joined by The Feelers, Mental as Anything, Stellar, The Mockers, The Narcs, The Lady Killers and The Warratahs.
Organiser and Lincoln resident David Parlane said the line-up is sensational and he is excited to have secured a class act such as Barnes to headline the show.
“We couldn’t do the same as what we did this year, we had to do something a little different and make it bigger and better . . . this year has got a little bit more of a feel for everybody,” he said.
It was estimated more than 7500 packed into Lincoln Domain for the inaugural concert in March.
Mr Parlane said the organisers had learnt from the last event and will be looking to have more Portaloos and designated areas to distinguish between male and female.
He said entry to the concert was a learning curve and there will now be designated lines for people taking chilly bins and express lines for those with only tickets to enter the show.
“The area that was slowing us down was people bringing in their chilly bins and food,” he said.
District councillor Pat McEvedy said he thought Mr Parlane and his organisers did a fantastic job in March and it was great to see that sort of innovation in Selwyn.
He said he will definitely be at the concert next year.
