Southbridge managed a convincing 50-14 win over Southern in the Luisetti Seeds division 1 competition on Saturday.
Fresh of a bye, Southbridge took the first 35 minutes to settle into their work, leading 15-9 at the break.
Southbridge manager Chris McMillan said scoring before and after the break allowed the team to get back to their systems after having the previous week off.
“To be fair, we were a bit flat in the first half, but then in the second things started to click and that’s when the points came,” he said.
The Ellesmere side ran in seven tries to one after 80 minutes.
Southbridge first-five and captain Shannon Donald bagged 20 points with six conversions, a penalty and a try.
“He normally grabs a couple of hundred points each season and is in really good touch at the moment,” McMillan said.
Southbridge will face Methven on Saturday.
