The guys at Bishopdale Menz Shed have embarked in all sorts of projects – from fixing up old chairs, to building bird houses, and even making coffins.
But their latest project is something they’ve never done before – making little nesting houses for penguins.
In the lead-up to World Penguin Day on April 25th, the men are constructing nest kit sets to give to the Antarctic Centre so children can put them together.
The men are making 50 kit sets made from sturdy timber so they can hold up in harsh weather.
Once the nests have been put together, they will be distributed along Banks Peninsula by the Department of Conservation.
