Selwyn’s Court Theatre youth ambassadors

STEPPING UP: Lincoln High School students Gabriel Clarke and Jarod Pope were among five from Selwyn to be selected as Court Theatre youth ambassadors.

The Court Theatre’s youth ambassadors have been announced for the year with students from two Selwyn high schools chosen.

Those selected were Ellesmere College students Ally Mechen, Kharissa Tomkins and Chelsea Smith, and Lincoln High School students Jarod Pope and Gabriel Clarke.

Each year the Court Theatre offers places on their Court Ambassadors programme to students from high schools around Canterbury.

The ambassadors are year 12 and 13 students who are passionate about theatre and are actively involved in the performing arts or have a interest in technical elements of the theatre, design or writing.

Each student is nominated by their teacher and the chosen ambassadors have the opportunity to see dress rehearsals and go to workshops at the Court Theatre for free.

The programme gives students the chance to see how a professional theatre company works.
